The mother of one of the abused children spoke before the commission and said that she had first reported her son’s abuse in 1986 to the director of Yeshivah Center of Melbourne, Rabbi Yitzchok Dovid Groner. The AUSTRALIA’s top Rabbi tried to silence a victim who called on Jewish leaders to confront the child sexual abuse crisis telling him to “remain silent”, The Child abuse here was the most violent, destructive thing you can do to a child. AUSTRALIA’s most senior rabbi has stepped down just days after he admitted intimidating and vilifying victims of child sexual abuse. Zephaniah Waks testified that three of his children, including prominent victims advocate Manny Waks, had also next been abused while attending yeshiva. Sadly “some within the rabbinate, including at the highest level, were involved in an intimidation campaign against those who spoke out and their families and supporters. “Had the issue not been disclosed, Rabbi Kluwgant would probably still have his senior leadership positions.
